Southwark Street

Southwark Street is a major street in the London Borough of Southwark, SE1, just south of the River Thames.[1] It runs between Blackfriars Road to the west and Borough High Street to the east. It also connects the access routes for London Bridge, Southwark Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge. At the eastern end to the north is Borough Market.

Tate Modern

To the west of Tate Modern lie the sleek stone and glass Ludgate House, the former headquarters of Express Newspapers and Sampson House, a massive late Brutalist office building.

Bankside Pier

The Bankside Pier is a stop on the river bus service in London. It is located on the south bank of the river Thames, close to the Tate Modern museum.

Harringay Stadium

The driving force behind the GRA, and its Managing Director until the 1960s, was Brigadier-General Alfred Critchley who wrote in his autobiography that, when he first learned of greyhound racing, "It immediately occurred to me that this might prove to be the poor man's racecourse".[2] Apparently his interest in how the lower paid classes were losing money by backing horses was born out of concern for his valet who lost large sums betting on horse racing.[2]
