Having a Good Relationship With Your Landlord
Published on Saturday, 17 April 2010
When you're renting, having a good relationship with your landlord is very important because whether you like it or not, your landlord will always be a part of your stay in your apartment.
Of course, one sure fire way to get on your landlord's good side is to always maintain your place well. This will not only help you be one better terms with your landlord, but also generally help you save on repairs and other related expenses. The old saying “prevention is better than cure” doesn't just apply to health issues.
Another thing is to learn to do things by yourself, and not always call the landlord for small things like changing a lightbulb. A landlord's work is not easy, and he'll always appreciate someone who takes the initiative to lessen his work.
Of course, general courtesy and politeness always goes a long way. You can drop off food or give him small gifts during the appropriate occasions - nothing fancy. Needless to say, paying the rent on time gets you a good reputation with your landlord, and he'll remember you as the guy (or gal) who pays rent on time and takes care of the property. And that is not a bad reputation to have.
