In early July 2007, refurbishment works, as part of Tube Lines station upgrade programme for 2007-8, begun at Holloway Road station. The station was closed to the public over the weekend of October 13-14 and also the following Sunday (October 21), October 27-28, and November 10-11 and 17.[3] Other closures took place in early 2008 although these closures didn't clash with football matches at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium.
Lower Holloway is a district in the London Borough of Islington, London. The name has fallen out of common use and the area is now generally regarded as being a part of Holloway. The Northern line platforms were opened by the City & South London Railway (C&SLR) as "Moorgate Street" in February 1900 as the northern terminus of its services from Stockwell south of the River Thames. The line was extended to Angel the following year. The original C&SLR station building remains on the west side of Moorgate and the offices above the station were built as the headquarters of the railway. These trains serve platforms 7 & 8.
